Oh, rompers, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
You’re versatile, comfortable, and effortless yet chic—exactly how summer styles should be! Each summer I find a new romper to add to my wardrobe while still keeping the older ones in rotation. They are easy to throw on, and when styled right, they are perfect for almost any summer occasion. In the summer heat, the last thing you need is a form-fitting ensemble that makes you sweat. With a few accessory swaps, I will show you how to take your cool and chic romper from day to night.
While I have a collection of floral and solid, short- and long-sleeved rompers in my closet, this is my first off-the-shoulder. I found this Young Fabulous & Broke style while shopping on Gilt.com, and at 50% off, it was a deal I couldn’t pass up. To style your romper for daytime, start with your favorite pair of comfortable and cute sandals. These Sam Edelman slides were an early birthday gift from my mother-in-law, and you’ll find them on my feet all summer long!
Whether you’re running daytime errands or enjoying a leisurely afternoon, you probably don’t want to lug around a heavy handbag in the summer heat. That’s why I opt for smaller, more compact purses in the summer, such as this light convertible crossbody bag from GiGi New York. They have a wide selection of cute clutches as well as larger bags—plus, they will add your initials to your purse for a lovely, personalized touch. To finish off my day look, I grab a pair of white sunglasses and my latest Rocksbox jewelry, and I’m ready for an afternoon out.
Transitioning your romper from day to night is as easy as one-two-three! First, swap out your jewelry for something more appropriate for evening. I changed my silver daytime accessories to some chic gold evening pieces. My black-and-gold drop earrings are from grayc glass, a jewelry line that focuses on unique, stylish glass and metal pieces. The designer makes everything by hand and features this style in almost every color imaginable. My MVMT timepiece and sunglasses in black and gold also complement my new evening look perfectly.
Next, swap out your handbag for a cute clutch, because nothing says evening like a stylish clutch handbag. Finally—you guessed it!—throw on some heels! I know I have written a lot about wearing comfortable shoes during the summer months, but an open-toe slingback will be your BFF this season. I’ve had these shoes for at least five years, and they are my go-to heels for summer. They allow my feet to breathe, and I can still show off my pedicure without tight straps keeping my feet confined.
Use my styling tips and save yourself a midday wardrobe change. Take your romper from day to evening with a few easy adjustments, and you can stay cool and comfortable all day long.
